Metal Meets Tranquility

Metal Moods

Metal Moods is inspired by a thoughtful fusion of opulent colours and reflective textures, glistering minerals and metallic surfaces. Warm metals such as gold, brass and copper can be used in the same interior scheme. Be daring and pair it alongside cooler metals such as silver or even platinum. The combination of different metals adds multiple layers of interest and dimension to any room. Get the look with Pirouette Shadings, Range: Satin Metallic or Fabric Collection: Aria Botanics.

Tranquility

From the horizon to the different ocean waters, the shades of blue offers a serene feeling whilst promoting relaxation. This trend is drawn from the Pantone Colour of the Year. The blue tones create a naturally connected sense of space.

Blue matches almost any décor so look for ways that you can bring calm and quiet into your space – pictures of the sunset or even the ocean. Find and print an image that you love and place it where you will see it every day, for instance, on your bedside table to be seen as you wake every morning. Let that calm inspire you throughout the year. Get the look with Luxaflex fabric ranges Tahlya, Colour: Amalfi or Ethos, Colour: Aquamarine.

Two fresh interior design trends for the new season

Trend 1- Botanics

Botanics is about blurring the lines between interior and exterior by bringing nature indoors. It is about stepping into the palette of the mysterious jungle mixed with muddy hues. Botanics clashes patterns, styles and colours to create an unexpected indoor haven. Aria Botanics is the perfect blend of an understated palette mixed with beautiful textures and prints.

In September, the Luxaflex Designer Series fabric collection introduces Aria Botanics. Aria Botanics uses the extravagance of metal to deliver a highly sophisticated and different take on a botanic print. Aria Botanics is all about the opulence in you, where the use of metallic printing brings the fabric to life, in a way that guarantees that second glance.

This range is a great representation of how the current home interior styling trends and colours can come together. Aria Botanics draws on the use of the 'Cooler Than You' colour ways for the base fabric, where a print pattern relating to the Botanics trend adopts subtle aspects of metal for that added wow. This translucent fabric collection is available in the same 3 base colours as its matching plain blockout and translucent counterparts. The fabric offer is for Roller Blind applications, for that ultra-contemporary styling solution.

Not a fan of print? Series T500, part of the Luxaflex Classic fabric collection also draws inspiration from Botanics. The horizontal wood grain with a combination of coloured yarns creates an almost natural woody bark look. Colours such as Rock, Jute and Rococo draw inspiration on nature and is a popular choice for both modern and traditional decor. Available in 10 matching blockout and translucent colours for Roller Blind, Panel Glide and Roman Shade applications, it is the perfect understated way of bringing a little bit of nature indoors.

Trend 2 - Cooler Than You

Cooler Than You is inspired by an understated palette of soft white and cream. It evokes a feeling of inner space and lightness. Minimalism and balance are at the heart of this trend. Neutrals as always creates balance, and when intertwined with textures and soft patterns, it brings neutral palettes to life.

Marblo, a new Luxaflex Designer Series fabric is inspired by a marble translucent print in organic colour ways. This collection is ready to reinvent the wheel for printed fabrics. The true appearance of the marble print is one that will be the new classic take in textiles perfectly aligning with the 'Cooler Than You' trend. Marblo is a welcomed surprise to the eye, and available for Roller Blind applications, suitable for any room with the desire of creating the ultimate haven.

Why impress with entire walls consisting of only marble, when you can have it on your window? You really don't even need to decorate much more if you have your entire window dressed in Marblo to create a big statement in your room.

If Marble is not your thing, Classic Series fabric Caspien is also inspired by the Cooler Than You Trend. Colours such as Frost, Chalk, Lusta and Shake play on the soft whites and creams, but the strong texture of contrasting yarn gives the fabric a look of depth and interest. Inspired by the classic linen look with a modern twist, Caspien is available in 10 matching translucent and blockout colours for Roller Blind, Panel Glide, Roman Shade and Vertical (Translucent only) Applications.

20 colour Waratah range

So what inspired these new colours?

CHI is where boundaries are blurred and colour is yearning for vanished epochs. Think tones of greys and blues.

CLUSTER is where neutral meets illusory aesthetics. The colour takes the surfaces into the recreation of faded hues and emotions.

BISQUE is about injecting comfort with a touch of muted drama. The new rugged natural takes flight.

TRUFFLE is tactility and the subconscious drive of the senses to retrace urbanism and truth. Think natural brown with an underlying grey tone.

PLUTO is the revelation in grey. The light compliment of the universe mixed with the lush softness that breaches texture play.

GRAVITY is about the forces of prisms revealing the deceptive truth. It is where micro becomes macro and highly flexible. Think dark and moody tones.

Waratah is a 100% polyester blockout fabric providing the capability to beautifully coordinate looks and styles across different rooms and window types, as the fabric can be fit with Roller Blinds, Panel Glide Blinds and Vertical Blinds.

Waratah Fabric is proudly Australian Made and is now available in 20 essential Australian fashion forward colours. The fabric has been designed and tested for Australian conditions and consumer requirements.

Australian Trend Forecast

The Australian Trend Forecast has released their latest trend ideas, which explore the influence of nature in design.

Colours, textures and patterns weave their way through our lives. They take us on a journey of imagination and inspiration. Through colours, textures and patterns, trends are created and translated into products. You can naturally combine or mix and match different schemes to create your own pallet of colours, textures and patterns. The possibilities are limitless.

Dawning

Dawning is inspired by nostalgia. Think of skipping on clouds of indigo gold and going on a dream. The colour palette consists of a mix of silvers and greys, hues of blue which expose highlights of pinks. Earthy tans, coppers and different hues of purple mushrooms of smoke which are evident in the beauty of a sunrise.

Gaia’s Land

From the Greek mythology, Gaia was the personification of the earth. She was the creator and giver of birth on the Earth and all the universe - all the heavenly gods, the Titans, and the Giants were born to her. Gaia was the great mother of all.

Gaia’s land is inspired by a balance of earthly tones which are somewhat soothing, warming and complete. Think muted tones of envious green, eye shadowed ocean blues and coppery bronze. Patterns are fascinatingly random and gentle.

Touch Me

This trend is based on the idea that colour is a possibility, but not a necessity. Grey tones are dominant. A return to the primal joy of touching dominates. Allowing your fingers to do the talking and to explore and play with different tactile textures and depths.

 Cat’s Cradle

Cat’s Cradle is the string game that everyone played as kid, creating never-ending patterns with the strings. It is inspired by a matrix of woven cells, where fragile components come together and bind to create indestructible strength. Imagine bee’s wax hexagons, a spider’s web and chains upon chains viewed underneath a microscope. Grey tones, patterns and textures are a dominant feature of this trend.

Luxaflex and Colourways 2014 Trend Forecast

Buckle up and get ready for the 2014 trends to take you on a journey through time. From simple pastels to majestic jewel-like hues, this year we’re anticipating developments in fashion that will ignite the senses and take interior design to the next level.

This year, Colourways, part of the Design Institute of Australia, have forecast the following four trends: Pioneering Spirit, Industrial Evolution, Sunday Matinee and Byzantine Princess to have an impact on the broader design industry.

How did these trends come about?
Colourways, in collaboration with various design industry experts, came together to reflect on the colours, patterns and textures which had an increasing presence in the industry as well as in normal day-to-day environments. They also worked together to select various items of inspiration to capture those colours and designs and represent what they believe would continue to evolve in the year ahead.

We’re thrilled to have three Luxaflex fabrics selected as items of inspiration for 2014. These fabrics are: Telopea (colour: Storm), Mauritius (colour: Drizzle) and Harper (colour: Papaya).

Pioneering Spirit celebrates the beauty in all natural landscapes. It encourages you to be inspired by the simple things around you and use them to recreate something magnificent.

The foundation of design today has been built from the bricks of history.  Industrial Evolution embraces the dark beauty of the past and transforms different textures and grains into something contemporary.

Sunday Matinee boasts a fresh and pastel colour pallet. Taking us back in time, soft colours and dusty hues are predicted to refresh and revive, harking back to a simpler era.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Byzantine Princess encourages us to awaken our inner royal and surpass the initial perceptions of our surroundings. Take control as you embrace rich jewel-like textures and colours.
